Actor Jennifer Peña's 1st Official Blog

Hello! My name is Jennifer Peña and I am an actor and an educator. I decided to start this official blog to share my knowledge about the entertainment industry, my experiences and endeavors , and to reach out to the fans of PBS Kids! Now let me tell you a little about myself.

I grew up in Central Florida during the prime of Nickelodeon and started acting at the age of 9 when I booked a small role in the film, "Ernest Saves Christmas." I worked on several nickelodeon shows and was in various commericals.

After receiving my B.A., I became a high school teacher. I loved it! If I had not had the opportunity to teach, I don't think I would have realize how passionate I am about education and the importance of reaching out to young people.

The Acting opportunity came knocking once again while I was teaching and I decided to take hold with both hands and see where it lead. I left teaching to focus on my acting full-time.

Two years later I received a call about a nation-wide search for a host for PBS Kids. I began the auditioning process and after more than 3,000 people and almost 6 months of auditioning, I was chosen to be Miss Rosa, Host of PBS Kids! It was the perfect merging of my two passions: acting and teaching.

PictureI am Miss Rosa, the Host of PBS Kids which you can catch on your local PBS station weekday mornings. Every morning on PBS stations nationwide, PBS Kids and Miss Rosa reach out to a diverse mix of preschoolers to participate in learning adventures before, during, and after their favorite PBS Kids shows. You can catch the segments while watching Curious George, Sid the Science Kid, Super Why, and Dinosaur Train.

Thanks for reading my 1st blog posting. I hope that you will stayed tuned for more updates. I look forward to sharing my thoughts, experiences, and upcoming Miss Rosa events with you all.
